How PointAlchemy compares

Most tools tell you which card to pull out of your wallet. PointAlchemy tells you the same thing — and quietly shows you why, if you ever want to check. What your points are really worth, whether this annual fee still pays for itself, and whether the next card you want will actually get approved.

Different tools fit different needs. Here's an honest breakdown of where each one shines.

The math behind the recommendations
CPP benchmarks (program × redemption method)PointAlchemy ships min/typical/max per program × redemption method, integrated into the optimizer. Several competitors publish single per-program valuations on a blog or settings page; those aren’t directly comparable.130+n/an/an/an/an/a

Verified April 21, 2026 from competitor websites, help centers, and App Store listings. Something wrong? Let us know.

“Cards in our database” counts each branded variant of a card as its own product so search like “Associated Bank Real Rewards” resolves to the right card. Many community banks and credit unions issue identical white-labeled products under different names.

“n/a” means the competitor publishes related information (for example, a single per-program point valuation on a blog or a settings page) but not in a form directly comparable to ours. PointAlchemy's counts reflect data integrated into the optimization engine: per-redemption-method CPP benchmarks and a navigable bidirectional transfer map.

About award flight search

None of the tools above search for award flight availability in real time. That's a different category entirely. If you need to find available award seats, check out tools like point.me or Seats.aero. PointAlchemy helps you figure out which points to use and how to get them there. Then those tools help you find the seats.

Where PointAlchemy isn't the right fit

No tool is perfect for everyone. Here's where other options may serve you better.

You need a native mobile app or browser extension today

PointAlchemy works in any browser, but a native iOS/Android app and a checkout-time browser extension are still in development. If push notifications and one-tap autofill matter to you right now, MaxRewards or CardPointers ship those today.

You want auto-activated card-linked offers

Some tools auto-click Amex Offers, Chase Offers, and similar issuer promos for you. We don't do that because it requires storing your card-portal login. We chose to skip the feature rather than hold those credentials.

You want GPS/location-based card suggestions

CardPointers will detect when you walk into a coffee shop and suggest a card. Our recommendations are based on your declared spending categories and portfolio, not real-time location, so we won't buzz your phone at the register.
